Pat Burrell! I never thought I'd be so glad to see you hit a home run! A Grand Slam greets the Anti-Christ in Houston!
Not a great night for great pitchers, Pedro, Willis, Anti-Christ....Jae Seo's pitching well though...go figure.

Amen.
Those Mets bandwagon jumpers may think they have the "Faith," but they will never know the "Fear."
I'm more nervous about the (Padres/Dodgers/Cardinals/Phillies) than I am about the foregone conclusion that concludes tonight.
I don't even want to think about a potential Subway Series. That could kill me.

That may be the geekiest thing I've ever read here, which between me and Greg is saying a lot.
Needless to say, I love it.

It's too bad the Mets won't be wearing their home-white tonight. And not just because we'll have to celebrate on la terre étrangère.
It's too bad because when Pedro Martinez takes the mound for the first time since his violent demise in Philadelphia, he won't be robed in ivory like he clearly should be. Let me explain:
It's become clear in Petey's relatively short stay here in the Big Apple that his slight, 5' 11'' body is hardly capable of containing the fiery spirit that is Pedro. With all the injuries, was Pedro still with us? Have we lost him?
The last rays of sunlight suddenly shine blindlingly bright as a figure takes the mound at PNC Park and begins to warm up.
The Mets: Who are you? Show yourself!
D-Wright: It cannot be...
El Reyes: Usted se cayó!
Pedro: Through fire and water...from the tip of my enflamed toe to my balky hip to my strained right-calf, I fought the Phillies of Philadelphia...but darkness took me. I strayed out of thought and time, the stars wheeled overhead, and every day was as long as a life-age of the earth! But it was not the end. I felt life in me again... I have been sent back--until my task is done.
Lo Duca son of Paul: Pedro!
Pedro: Pedro? Yes. That's what they used to call me. Pedro the Grey. That was my name. I am Pedro the White... And I come back to you now--at the turn of the tide.

Normally I'd delete one of the double-posts as a custodial service to our faithful commenters...but you know what? That one's worth saying twice. Heck, I've been short of breath all day, to the point of worrying that I may asphyxiate when the actual game comes on....

Ray beat me to that punch.
Before there was "Head On - apply directly to the forehead...Head On - apply directly to the forehead...Head On - apply directly to the forehead", there was that Sportsphone commercial.
Life was so much simpler then...

Every now and again while I'm going about my business today, I get this sensation that I should look down and see the earth far beneath me.
Then I remember - The Magic Number Is 1.
