And during his 222-game tour with the Mets, Alomar repeatedly spit in the face of the game by playing with conspicuous apathy. His father and brother didn’t deserve that, nor did the game.

So Ashburn is the guy I should blame for the “legend” of Marv Throneberry. I didn’t know that or really need another reason to hate everything about the Phillies. Thanks though, now I have one more.

Think how much sooner they’d have made it in if Agnetha hadn’t spat in Don Kirschner’s face that one time and refused to turn her mike on or do more than sway on their second-to-last European tour. There’s a lesson there, though damned if I can figure out what it is.
