Let's Get Annual

The Maple Street Press Mets Annual 2011 is party enough by itself, but now it comes with its very own shindig. Swing by the Pine Restaurant at the Holiday Inn LaGuardia, on 114th Street across the Grand Central from Citi Field (just around the corner from the 111th St. stop on the 7), Tuesday night, […]

AMAZIN' ALL-STAR MONDAY is Coming

Just when you were dreading being without Mets baseball for three long nights next week comes the event that will make the All-Star break not just tolerable but terrific.

It’s AMAZIN’ ALL-STAR MONDAY at Two Boots Grand Central, Monday night, July 12, at 7 PM. Our regular reading and rallying series moves to a special day […]

Amazin' Night (Win Not Included)

Sorry gang. I neglected to mention in the promotion of Amazin’ Tuesday that the Mets tend to lose on Amazin’ Tuesday. Well, they didn’t lose in March, because the season hadn’t started yet, but otherwise, there’s reading, there’s pizza, there’s Met camaraderie like you wouldn’t believe every time we hold one of these things…but there’s […]

All Aboard for AMAZIN’ TUESDAY

AMAZIN’ TUESDAY is pulling into a new location! It’s headed to one of New York’s most revered landmarks and one of my favorite places anywhere

On May 18 at 7:00 PM, we will reconvene the rookie sensation of 2009 (and Spring Training 2010) at Two Boots Grand Central, located in the lower dining concourse of the […]

Tug's Day and Tuesday, Both Amazin'

It’s St. Patrick’s Day today, which was an annual favorite of the great Met — and Phillie — relief pitcher Tug McGraw. With a name like McGraw, perhaps it was inevitable.

“I made an effort to get back to Clearwater each spring even after I retired from the Phillies,” McGraw said in his memoir Ya Gotta […]

AMAZIN' TUESDAYS Return!

Mark your calendars, your Blackberries and your whatever ya got for March 23 at 7 PM and the return of AMAZIN’ TUESDAYS to Two Boots Tavern, the Lower East Side’s foremost bastion of Metsdom.

The Mets-themed reading and venting series that was infinitely more successful in 2009 than the team on which it focused makes its […]
