ABOUT US

Greg Prince and Jason Fry
Faith and Fear in Flushing made its debut on Feb. 16, 2005, the brainchild of two longtime friends and lifelong Met fans.

Greg Prince discovered the Mets when he was 6, during the magical summer of 1969. He is a Long Island-based writer, editor and communications consultant. Contact him here.

Jason Fry is a Brooklyn writer whose first memories include his mom leaping up and down cheering for Rusty Staub. Check out his other writing here.

The Orosco Ovation

In the land of small sample sizes, the curious factoid is king, so all hail this minuscule nugget: The current series against the Red Sox represents the first series in which the Mets have dropped the first two home games versus Boston since the 1986 World Series.

Obviously, a world championship is just days away.

Until then, […]

Here Comes Summer

Summer and Jacob deGrom’s first big league win each arrived in good stead on Saturday. Summer, as the artificial-lemonade commercials used to tell us, is only here a short while. DeGrom, one hopes, will stick around so long that the length of his career will rival the length of his locks. Paradoxically, time of game […]

Raised Expectations & Lost Colonies

Aw, how can you get mad at these Mets for being, per coach Dennis Green, who we thought they were? We thought they were going to be not very good and now we are beginning to be proven fairly prescient.

It was a heckuva first half. There may be some heck left in the second half. […]

The Age of Gl@v!ne

How appropriate for a person who sees almost everything through Mets-tinted lenses that on the final day of this decade I turn 47. When I see 47, of course, I see not so much a chronological measurement but a uniform number. And when I see that uniform number at the end of this decade, I […]

In Your Wildest Dreams

Welcome to Flashback Friday, a weekly feature devoted to the 20th anniversary of the 2006 National League Eastern Division Champion New York Mets.

Twenty years. Countless Fridays. This is one of them.

As I recall my beloved 2006 Mets here one more time from the vantage point of two decades on — just as I’ve been […]

Men Without Shame

Welcome to Flashback Friday, a weekly feature devoted to the 20th anniversary of the 1986 World Champion New York Mets.

Twenty years. Forty-three Fridays. This is one of them.

You know who wanted the Astros to beat the Mets in 1986? George Bush.

Both of them.

The elder Bush was the vice president at the time. His home away […]

Closer To Real

Holy crap! The baseball season starts in less than a week!

I’ve been holed up with my Snigh for the last few days and realize that everything I’m seeing (except for the sailing show, the poker show and the Dean Martin Roasts infomercial) translates to potential implications for the first days of the rest of our […]
