ABOUT US

Greg Prince and Jason Fry
Faith and Fear in Flushing made its debut on Feb. 16, 2005, the brainchild of two longtime friends and lifelong Met fans.

Greg Prince discovered the Mets when he was 6, during the magical summer of 1969. He is a Long Island-based writer, editor and communications consultant. Contact him here.

Jason Fry is a Brooklyn writer whose first memories include his mom leaping up and down cheering for Rusty Staub. Check out his other writing here.

I Imagined That Going Better

Carlos Carrasco was bad, inexplicable Mets punching bag Pablo Lopez was good, the Marlins were pesky even by their loathsome standards and the Mets lost a game that had a queasy, out-of-sorts feeling to it from the get-go. And yes, down in D.C. the Braves smacked the crap out of the Nats, and so now […]

He Wore His Heart on His Head

The Mets turn 60 this year. They’re as old as the American League was when the Mets were first signing players in 1961, including their very first, a young feller named Bruce Fitzpatrick (Casey called him Fitzgerald) who not long ago told his story of being the original Met prospect. Bruce never made it to […]

Head of the Class

Aesthetics aside, the Mets’ extended residency in Philadelphia is going pretty well: three of four games have been captured, with one still waiting to be bagged. Feliciano Returns, Perpetuity Resumes

If you’ve ever felt a little charge upon reacquainting yourself with an old song that wasn’t exactly a favorite back in the day but it’s surprisingly good to hear playing again from out of nowhere, then you know how I feel upon seeing Pedro Feliciano in a Mets uniform this Spring Training. For me and […]

Letter to Dana

Among the many Mets bloggers carrying on for the one who couldn’t make it to Hofstra were Steve Keane, John Coppinger, Taryn Cooper and yours truly. (Photo courtesy of Jason Bornstein.)

Dear Dana,

I either have to thank you or blame you for directing me to file my overdue report on the Hofstra Mets 50th […]

Mr. Met Can Do It All

“Mr. Met, can you come in for a minute?”
“Sure!”

“Have a seat.”
“What’s up?”
“Well, Mr. Met, you know we might be having some problems selling tickets this season.”
“Really? That sounds unlikely.”
“Believe it or not, Mr. Met, not everybody’s as big a Mets fan as you.”
“I don’t see why not. I love the Mets! They’re all I think […]

Little Orphan Expo

Andre Dawson’s election to the Hall of Fame conjures up a most frightening vision of a very scary slugger with a terribly lethal bat ready to destroy the next innocent baseball a New York Mets pitcher throws his way. I’ve read grumbles and snorts that Dawson’s career on-base percentage is too low to be worthy […]
